Call Of Duty: World At War
World at War, which came out in 2008, had more to say about war than most Call of Duty games, but Activision treats it like a red-headed stepchild. Not only did its predecessor get a full remake, but Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which came right after it, also got a single-player update.
It’s a shame because WAW is probably the best COD game set during World War II (even though Veteran has too many grenades). This is true even when compared to Call of Duty: WW2, which has better graphics but is less creative and even cruel. Now think about what it would be like if you combined WAW’s brutal and serious depiction of war with the graphics of Modern Warfare 2022.
Halo 3
Even by today’s standards, Halo 3 still looks pretty good. It’s amazing how well most of its looks have held up over time, and a lot of that has to do with how well it was directed. It makes sense that Halo CE and Halo 2 got the full annual treatment, since they were already looking pretty old by 2007.Halo 3, on the other hand, still has that magical look, even if some parts, like the face modelling and lip-syncing, haven’t aged as well.
At most, Halo 3 could use a few tweaks, like higher quality textures and models with more polygons, but other than that, it’s unlikely that a remake would improve on what Bungie had in mind when they made the game.
BioShock
Many gamers still think that the first BioShock is one of the best FPS games of all time, and it’s easy to see why. BioShock is a once-in-a-generation game that a lot of people probably don’t want to see remade because they’re afraid they’ll mess it up. It has a world that is really unique and is full of biting political criticism.
Even by today’s standards, the game still looks pretty good. However, a remake could improve a lot of things, like the lighting systems (think of a ray-traced BioShock), guns, animations, textures, etc.
Battlefield Bad Company 2
Battlefield 2042 showed that the remade maps from Battlefield Bad Company 2 look a lot better now than they did in 2010. It does beg the question, though: if it can be made to look that much better, why not remake one of the best Battlefield games ever made? Even though the original has its good points, it still has this almost-cartoonish look that a redo could get rid of with better graphics.
Not only would the base game look great, but so would the Vietnam multiplayer update, which had its own unique style and would look crazy with today’s tech.
Star Wars: Battlefront 2
In the 2010s, EA brought the series back to life, but since Battlefront 2, it hasn’t been the same. Battlefront 2 came out in 2005, right after Revenge of the Sith. It had a lot of new features that its predecessor didn’t have, like heroes, a story-based game, and a lot of new maps, weapons, and vehicles.
It’s a shame that this game never got a full remake, because even though it has a lot of cool features, it’s not very well made and the graphics are definitely out of date.
Fallout 3
Skyrim and now Fallout 4 have both been remade, with Skyrim being remade many more times than Fallout 4. Fallout 3, on the other hand, has never been remastered or remade. It’s a shame, since it was very popular when it first came out and many people think it’s better than both Skyrim and Fallout 4.
Worse still, Spacebar Clicker game doesn’t even work well on current gaming PCs without a lot of work. People would probably buy the game in droves if Bethesda just gave it a new coat of paint and made it run better.
Half-Life 2
There may not be a Half-Life 3 in the near future, but in the meantime, Valve could release an HD version of one of their most popular games. Even though Half Life 2 still looks pretty good (and mods make it look even better), Half Life: Alyx shows that the series’ visuals and art direction could use a lot of work.
Black Mesa is a fan version of the first Half Life, and it even got a ray tracing mod not too long ago, which would be really cool to see in HL2. There are almost no signs that Valve wants to remake Half Life 2, though.
Return To Castle Wolfenstein
Many people remember how Wolfenstein: The New Order gave the old Nazi-killing series a new lease on life, but Return to Castle Wolfenstein did the same thing 13 years earlier. It turned the old 2D corridor shooter into a huge 3D dungeon crawler that wouldn’t be topped until the New Order game came out.
Return has a story with great atmosphere and lots of action, as well as a ridiculously fun multiplayer mode that the series has been missing since Wolfenstein in 2009. It’s crazy that this game hasn’t had a single HD update or full remake in the last 20 years.
