Emeralds, rubies and NFTs: Inside Bulgari’s new-era high jewellery

Bulgari debuted its latest significant jewellery assortment in Paris on Monday, that includes emeralds, rubies and a stunning, sparkling new addition: NFTs.

The new collection consists of a multi-million-euro, 10-carat Magnifica Ruby Metamorphosis necklace and the Emerald Glory necklace to be sold with electronic twin NFTs, which website link the actual physical products to a virtual edition. The 3rd NFT, named “Beyond Wonder”, is a purely digital creation, which the model phone calls the “first NFT jewel, an intangible creation, transcending the boundaries of materiality” and is not for sale.

The NFTs ended up created by Bulgari jewellery innovative director Lucia Silvestri and done in partnership with Milan-based startup Miat. Their knowledge is stored on the Aura blockchain, and the NFTs are accessible on the Polygon blockchain, in accordance to Bulgari CEO Jean-Christophe Babin.

The two “digital twins” are not replicas of the necklaces to wear on Decentraland or your PFP like many others. Alternatively, they are digital artworks impressed by the necklaces.

“The future of present-day artwork is partly digital and NFTs are the driver of digital modern day art. Becoming equipped to give our consumers an inventive dimension motivated by their jewelry provides to the piece an emotional dimension. The large jewelry piece will be worn a few times a yr although you can have your NFT on a great display at residence,” Babin claims.
